The results of our research within the PhotoSCLART project are published in Bioorganic Chemistry journal. The new article “Sclareol-based natural nanoparticles with adamantane moieties exert anticancer effects against non-small cell lung carcinoma cells” deals with the synthesis of the new derivatives of sclareol bearing an adamantane moiety and their cytotoxicity towards NSCLC. The unique nanoparticle characteristics combined with the significant cytotoxicity of the novel adamantane-sclareol derivatives underscore their potential as promising candidates for advanced anticancer nanotherapeutic applications. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bioorg.2025.108967

Recently, the article “Novel pyrimidine-artesunate hybrids overcome multidrug-resistance in non-small cell lung carcinoma through collateral sensitivity” has been published in Bioorganic Chemistry with the results of our research into artesunate derivatives. The reported hybrids selectively target multidrug resistant non-small cell lung carcinoma cell line highlighting their potential to overcome drug resistance in cancer treatment.

Our latest results within the PhotoSCLART project are published in Molecules. The new article “Novel Adamantane–Sclareol Hybrids Exploit ROS Vulnerability to Overcome Multidrug-Resistance in Glioblastoma Cells” presents our team’s findings on exploiting an MDR-associated reactive oxygen species (ROS) vulnerability, combining selective cytotoxicity, redox disruption, and P-gp modulation to eliminate resistant glioblastoma cells with the adamantane-sclareol hybrid compounds.
